The team at McConachie Stedman are happy to support teachers and guidance officers as they mentor students through the transition from school to working life. To do this, we offer a range of opportunities for schools, including in-school presentations and work experience opportunities. Our schools program provides an opportunity for students to learn about accounting as a career option and to gain an understanding of the pathway to enter this field of work. Please note:

  • Bookings can only be made by authorised school contacts

  • We require 4 weeks prior notice when making a booking

We have a selection of presentations to suit your student’s needs, interest areas and year levels. Our sessions can be tailored to discuss specific topics or areas of specialty and our team will work with you to meet your timetable requirements. All topics can be presented in person in the Toowoomba region. Please allow 30 minutes class time for the presentation.

Not in Toowoomba? Our team are happy to connect with your classroom online. To take part, you will need to have access to a device, internet and the ability to connect into an online meeting platform.

Presentation Topics

Accounting as a career

This presentation provides students with the key information about the process of becoming an accountant, pathway options and specialties in the area of accounting. This talk aims to broaden students understanding of a career in accounting and give them an overview of some of the career options in the field.

Year 10 Subject Selection

This session provides students going into their senior years with the key information regarding prerequisites, study/career options and an overview of the working life of an accountant. This talk aims to assist students with understanding the need for foundation subjects during their high-school years, and how this will assist them when they leave for University.

Graduate Life

This presentation gives students the opportunity to hear from a recent university graduate on entering the workforce. This presentation gives students the opportunity to hear from someone who has recently had the university experience and is beginning their career. Our graduates participate in a 12-month training program after graduating from University; this program gives our graduates the skills to implement what they have learned during their studies in real world situations.

In addition to these topics, we are happy to work with you to develop a presentation that suits your curriculum needs. If you have any questions related to a school visit, please contact recruitment@mcconachiestedman.com.au.

Work Experience Opportunities

We offer a number of work experience placements across our specialty areas in taxation, business advisory, audit, financial planning and superannuation. These placements are available throughout the year to both high-school and University students.

Due to the high demand for these placements and the limited number on offer each year, unfortunately we cannot assist all applicants.

Applications for high-school students will also be accepted on the student’s behalf when direct contact is made by their school or education provider.

If you have any questions about this application or our work experience program, please contact our office on 1300 363 866. To submit an application, please download our 'Work Experience Application' form and email it to recruitment@mcconachiestedman.com.au.
